Endometriosis affects 10% of women, or around 2.5 million French women. This debilitating disease caused very strong pain, which is sometimes so violent that daily life is strongly affected. In addition, the time of diagnosis is often due to complex issues like : various diagnostis methods, difficulties to talk to a doctor, taboo of menstruation pain, lack of information from the medical profession.
To talk about this major problem, I was pleased to discuss with Prof. Arnaud Fauconnier, obstetrician-gynecologist, expert in endometriosis. He has drawn up a self-questionnaire to detect early severe forms of endometriosis, a tool that he wants now to widespread to the entire healthcare front-line. This interview is rich, far from the “clichés” we can hear and also gives some advices on how to cope better with the disease.
