Peanut allergy: transforming the cause into a treatment

Over the last decades, epidemics of food allergies have dramatically increased. These allergies may conduct allergic people to death even after a tiny contamination of food, with peanuts for instance.

Croote and collaborators have reported in Science magazine a study about the mechanisms behind peanut allergies. They successfully identified  the natural type E antibodies that drives inflammation after a contamination with peanut allergens. These antibodies have been then produced and modified to suppress their inflammatory properties with the finality to use these as a therapy.
